Had the same problem with a SNES style wireless controller, attempts to set the D-pad fail, result in permanent direction trigger.Ĭonfiguring the D-pad as the left stick solved the problem. Onkel, how did you do that, in manage game->controller settings? I tried something like that but it didn't work.į***, there is way too much places and stuffs to configure gamepads in Steam, it's awful. I have 2 of them working properly elsewhere, so it's not my gamepads. AXIS 0 and AXIS 1 here instead, but like you, just in 2 directions. Can't do anything, like if it was pressed all the time. Swheatl2: exact same problem here with a Logitech Precision (no joysticks). My personal favorite is the XBO S gamepad. Buying a proper game pad might be a tad more expensive, its however way WAY more comfortable. A big advantage of consoles is that things just work. simply hookup a MicroUSB-to-USB data-sync cable and you are good to go on these for wired connection. Or get an official Microsoft XboxOne controller, which works both as wireless and wired. PDP Xbox One Wired Controller (these are official backed by Microsoft as a cheaper wired only alternative, and will work with official Microsoft controller drivers) If you want "cheap but works great" go with something like:

It's not worth saving money if it's not as good overall or will have a shorter life-span. They may not play well along side official drivers, or even hold up as well over time due to poorer quality. anything "generic"Įven so called DS4 or Xbox Controllers actually made by no-name China brands, stay away from them. I really wanna play some Mega Man(and other retro NES games) using this retro-controller! I also tried messing around with the settings under the 'Big Picture Configuration', and 'Desktop Configuration', and the 'Guide Button Chord Configuration', but NOTHING is working correctly!Īny help with setting up this controller correctly, would be Awesome!, Why would Windows joy.cpl detect all the buttons correctly, but Steam is having issues? While in the Steam Controller configuration, when I press DOWN on the controller it moves the menu highlight UP!! urrrrgh!! wth!? It can only remap two of the D-PAD buttons: LEFT & UP, or only RIGHT & DOWN, etc., and some of the other buttons don't wanna work. However Steam is having issues remapping the buttons under: 'Controller>General Controller Settings>Define Layout'. It successfully detects UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT and all the other buttons. This generic usb controller I have appears to work just fine when testing it under the Windows 10 joy.cpl settings.
